Freshly roasted specialty coffee, crafted with care.

Overview
Blue Bottle Coffee began in Oakland, California, in 2002, when founder James Freeman started selling freshly roasted coffee from a small cart at the Old Oakland Farmers Market. The company later opened its first permanent café in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley and grew into an international network of cafés across the United States and Asia.
Blue Bottle’s approach centers on freshness, precision and carefully developed roast profiles. Its coffees include year-round signature blends, espresso offerings and frequently changing single origins. Each coffee is repeatedly evaluated by its quality team, and roasting is performed daily in small batches before online orders are shipped from the roastery.
The company says it builds long-term relationships with coffee producers, prioritizes traceability and pays premiums for quality. Most of its coffees are certified organic, although exceptions are made for certain highly traceable single origins where certification is not feasible. Alongside its cafés and online store, Blue Bottle offers flexible home subscriptions and distributes selected packaged products through retail partners.
